This is Lake Calhoun, Minneapolis, MN just a little before sunset.
This was taken with a 35mm point-and-shoot camera. It turned out a bit darker than I had intended, but the way the light was filtering through the clouds was so beautiful, I had to at least try to capture it.
With photoshop, I have put a border on it, adjusted levels, and cleaned up a few very minor blemishes (not sure how they got there as my lens was clean. I don't process my own film, so maybe it was the processors fault.), otherwise it is unchanged.
This, like my previous image, is unfortunately not quite as lovely scanned as was the real photo.
I thought this was taken with a high spec camera when I saw the preview
Other than the clouds being a bit gayed over (which was the cameras fault..) the shot is superb for the equipment. I'd *love* this at a bigger resolution.
You only have 2 devs, but I'm gonna watch and hope you provide some more stuff like this.
Thanks! I do plan on posting many more of my pictures. I have just been very busy with school and work, thus it's been hard to find time to get them posted. Maybe one of these days I'll be able to afford an SLR camera, but alas, that is not a possibility now.
I would also love your input when it does come to posting my other photos. I have never taken a class in photography, thus, I have much to learn.
I have the original scans of these pics that are fairly large photoshop files. Should I post those? What resoultion is best? (not too big, not too small?) If I do post these at larger resolutions, should I ghost(not sure if this is the right term for it) my copyright in them as I've seen other people do?
Any help you can provide would be great. (I am rather new here) Again, thanks for the watch.
The resolution I use is 600x900 which seems to be a pretty common size here...
Yeah, if you post them take down the originals and you can ghost, althought I don't/ (My work isn't good enough for that yet ) and its normally called "Watermarking" not "ghosting."
I have just started photography classes so yeah, I'll be happy to help. Just send me a note with links to the photos on photobucket.com or add me on MSN or something.
Go figure. A few hours after I post this, I am given an SLR camera by my brother without me mentioning what I'd said, or even that I was hoping for one. He found 2 SRL cameras with several lenses and a few filters for... $8. ...at a garage sale. The lady that sold them to him had recently had her husband die and apparently didn't know what they were worth. My brother offered more, but she refused. So, my brother said he doesn't need two of them, so gave me one.
Now, I just have to learn how to work all the parts of it as it is a bit more complicated than my digital camera and my point and shoot camera that my mom gave me a long time ago. I'm so excited. Unfortunately, though, fall came too fast this year and thus, most of the pretty leaves have already turned brown or fallen. The cold needs to come in more gradually!
I'd like to show you some awesome nature related work from more or less unknown artists which deserve more attention - this is a must see, you won't regret it!!!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
I'm a lover of visual impacts. I like brilliant colors and shapes. And I decided to collect a whole stack of deviations that reflect that taste. These pieces showcased below deserve every bit of publicity you can give them. x)P
